2016 National Bounce Back Day Pogo-thon

2016 National Bounce Back Day Pogo-thon

The 2016 National Bounce Back Day Pogo-thon for beyondblue bounced its way to success on Friday October 21st 2016 at Tempe Public School NSW and St. Joseph’s school Renmark SA.

Running for the second time ever in the world, this innovative charity event proved highly popular again whilst addressing the educational areas of physical health and mental health.

This year saw over 75 pogo stick riders jump for an hour, some of which did not set a foot down during this time. Now that is RESILIENCE!

The dynamic, larger and than life event was heightened by the presence of LED TV SCREENS beaming live footage between the two schools separated by 1000km. Thanks to the generous in kind sponsorships of Xpogo, Flybar, Riedel Communications, Black Express Light & Sound, Mosaic Audio Visual, Prime Audio Visual, Crystal Clear Audio, The Lane Vineyard, Solution Psychology Double Bay, Rockpool Food Group, Crust Pizza Dulwich Hill, Nudie Juice, Sydney Clock Company, T’shirt Magic Alexandria, Jade Herriman Art therapy, Coaching and Creative Play, Embroid Me North Sydney and Bunning Alexandria, this year’s pogo-thon provided engaging activities and amazing memorabilia for the students to keep.

In Sydney at Tempe, the presence of the Honorable Linda Burney MP Member for Barton, Llew Dowley beyondblue ambassador/author, Francesca Harvey child psychologist and the sometimes controversial former NRL athlete now professional boxer, Anthony Mundine provided insightful and personal speeches that aligned perfectly with the ethos of the day.

In Renmark South Australia, the challenging winter like conditions provided a resilient experience for all. This did not stop the regional South Australians who showed off their talented pogo skills using tennis rackets and balls, quite a feat………

Special thanks must go to the following people across the two states:

  • Kylie Webber (Tempe Public school Principal) & the entire Tempe Public School staff
  • Helen Pentecost Tempe OOSHC Director and her staff
  • Elizabeth O’Neill Tempe P & C President and her team of parent helpers
  • Jan Flanagan Director Newtown North OOSHC
  • Donny Depalma (St. Joseph’s school Renmark)
  • & the entire St. Joesph’s School staff
  • Kyerin Grundy (P.E teacher St. Joseph’s school Renmark)

The National Bounce Back Day Pogo-thon is an exciting and dynamic charity day event that symbolises perfectly the need to be resilient, goal set and reach for the skies.
