The Origins of Pogo Pulse
Hi my name is Barton Williams and I am the founder of Pogo Pulse. As a baby adopted from Vietnam, I have learned a thing or two about Bouncing Back from life’s challenges. It seems inevitable that pogo sticks were my destiny, although it wasn’t until I was an adult that I truly realised its potential and how much fun it can be.
As a National Barefoot water ski champion, lifeguard, professional water stunt performer and primary/elementary school teacher; the development of a progressive, fun and safe fitness program using pogo sticks was always going to be born; I had to share how much fun jumping on a pogo stick was and how it greatly assisted my training for water skiing and action sports.
From the early days of riding a rubber band powered Flybar 1200 on the banks of the River Murray in South Australia to the high-flying days of riding an air-powered Vurtego pogo stick; I was addicted to the feeling of flight and the pumping of the legs when jumping on a pogo stick.
Across Australia Pogo Pulse has been implemented in schools such as: Carlton Public School, Tempe Public School, Newtown Public School, Petersham Public school, St. Peters Public school, Lucas Heights Secondary school, St. Joseph’s Renmark school and Glossop Primary school.
Internationally Pogo Pulse has played an integral part in improving concentration, emotional regulation, and classroom engagement of all its students at: Brent River College (UK) and Cook County Juvenile Temporary Detention Center (USA).
The Pogo Pulse story has seen students of all ages, backgrounds and abilities jump with joy around the world.
One thing is for sure, we never lose sight of; having fun, keeping safe and developing physically, emotionally and mentally.
Pogo Pulse; more than just jumping up & down!
